DINE AND DRINK AT THE SALOON.

Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day.

The Restaurant.

A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink. Enjoy a contemporary menu with the fresh flavors of California, utilizing the bounty of our local and organic farms. The Golden Gate menu is updated seasonally.

The Bar.

It starts here. Our favorite watering hole continues to be as tenacious and inventive as its original owners—and one of the longest operating barrooms west of the Mississippi River. Serving classic and seasonal cocktails, regional and international wines and a selection of beers from near and far, with live music nights and plenty of local character.

The Chef.

Chef Robb Wyss (pronounced WEES) is a culinary maestro with roots deeply embedded in farm-to-table traditions. His culinary journey began amid the flourishing gardens of his grandmother’s farm in Peoria, Illinois, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
